Bro. José Luis Solache becomes Mayor of Lynwood, C.A.

As Phi Iota Alpha Fraternity, Inc. turns 83 this December 26th, we are proud to announce that Bro. José Luis Solache was appointed Mayor of Lynwood, C.A. on December 2nd, 2014. Bro. José Luis Solache has previously served as Associated Student President of Cal State University, Dominguez Hills (as an undergrad of our Alpha Epsilon Chapter), Ambassador for Lynwood, and School Board Member. For those who know Bro. José Luis Solache, he is commonly referred to as “Mr. Lynwood” due to his high commitment to his community and the communities at large in which participates. Brothers like José Luis Solache continue to be an example for younger brothers and our Latin communities to build a sense of unity in our local and national communities.

One of the first actions conducted by Bro. José Luis Solache upon being appointed mayor was to organize a Christmas tree collection drive for families in need this holiday season. Bro. José Luis Solache worked with alumni brothers in the Western Province to organize this magnificent event that collected trees and prepared them for families. Many of the brothers from the region personally donated trees, trimmed trees, coordinated volunteers, coordinated donations, and participated in the annual event. The program helped a total of 31 families that were selected from the diverse school districts that exist in the City of Lynwood. The selflessness by these brothers remind us that the holiday season is about giving back to our communities and being thankful for our blessings.
